Strasbourg: historic city and one of the centres of European policy-making
Strasbourg
Strasbourg, the capital of the Alsace region, has an iconic story for anyone involved in European politics; sometimes in the background but sometimes very close
On 31 May until the 1st of June, the European People’s Party (EPP) held its 27th Congress. The congress took place in Rotterdam Ahoy. On the day of the opening of the Congress, 31 May, we organised a side-event of the European Seniors’ Union together with the seniors of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDAS). This side-event concerning ‘What does the Green Deal mean for our way of life?’ addressed the challenges of a greener and more sustainable society and what impact this will have on our lifestyle.
We welcomed Margaritis Schinas, – Vice-President EU Commission on ‘Promoting our European Way of Life’- he took care of the introductory word. We were also given a presentation by two passionate professors who each made a difference in the field of sustainability in their own area of expertise:
It was interesting to listen to presentations from different points of view, the whole event was moderated by Prof. Steven Van Hecke, Professor of Comparative and European Politics (KU Leuven) and a lively Q&A followed at the end of the event.
We thank CDA Seniors for the close and smooth cooperation.
