ESU President and Secretary-General join UNIDOP celebrations in Cyprus

On October 1, 2023, ESU President An Hermans and Secretary-General Guido Dumon joined in the UN International Day of Older Persons (UNIDOP) festivities in Cyprus. Alongside other NGOs, our senior citizens association of Cyprus (Oprepo) embarked on a heartwarming journey to Foini, a picturesque mountain village, where they organized a ‘March of Love’ involving both the younger and older generations. President An Hermans extended her congratulations to the event organizers and underscored the imperative for both public and private initiatives to address the needs of our older citizens. She also made reference to her recent letter in honor of UNIDOP.

In the company of Mrs. Marilena Evangelou, the deputy minister of social welfare, An Hermans expressed her hope for increased global awareness regarding the challenges associated with aging. Together, they emphasized the importance of addressing this issue on a worldwide scale.
